Lauren Baker is a Researcher at the Newcastle University Business School, where she contributes to innovation and research initiatives through the Creative Fuse North East project. Her work bridges academia and practice, focusing on entrepreneurial development within the craft sector.
Lauren earned her doctoral degree from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), University of Dundee, as part of the Scottish Graduate School of Arts & Humanities (SGSAH) Creative Economy Knowledge Hub. Her PhD research examined how organizational programs shape the entrepreneurial profiles of Scottish craft makers, collaborating with institutions like Craft Scotland and the American Craft Council.
Her research interests in unconventional entrepreneurship, craft innovation, and identity stem from her background as a textile designer and her professional experience in curatorial practice, public/private gallery collaborations, and creative workshop facilitation. While she has not yet been recognized with specific scientific awards, her work emphasizes partnership-driven knowledge exchange.
Lauren balances her academic pursuits with personal passions, including visiting beaches, exploring woodlands, and tending to a strawberry garden. For updates on her projects, interested parties may sign up for the Creative Fuse mailing list.
