Laure Saint-Raymond

Laure Saint-Raymond is a Permanent Professor of Mathematics at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES), joining in 2021. She works on asymptotic analysis of partial differential equations with applications to fluid dynamics, gas dynamics, and statistical physics.

Research Interests

Her work centers on the asymptotic analysis of partial differential equations, particularly those governing gases, plasmas, and fluids. She has made key contributions to Hilbert’s sixth problem, exploring the transition between non-equilibrium statistical physics and fluid mechanics, and studying the validity of statistical models from Newtonian mechanics. Additionally, she investigates fluid mechanics models for ocean currents, including rotation and stratification effects on wave propagation and boundary layers.
