Laura Wilcox is an Associate Professor at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) within the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. Her research focuses on the impact of atmospheric aerosols on climate, particularly in the context of regional climate change and near-term projections. She co-leads the Regional Aerosol Model Intercomparison Project (RAMIP) and contributes to initiatives like CATHY and TerraFIRMA, exploring aerosol-driven climate hazards and mitigation strategies.
Her work spans aerosol-radiative interactions, monsoon dynamics, and the role of anthropogenic emissions in climate variability. Key projects include analyzing the climate implications of Asian aerosol emissions and assessing risks associated with overshooting climate targets. Wilcox has supervised several PhD students and collaborates on international climate modeling efforts.
Recent publications highlight aerosol impacts on monsoons, Arctic warming, and extreme weather trends under different emissions scenarios. Her contributions emphasize the urgency of integrating aerosol dynamics into climate risk assessments and policy frameworks.
