Laura Van Dyke is a part-time Lecturer in the English & Creative Writing Department at Trinity Western University since 2015. She holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa (2019), specializing in Twentieth-Century British Literature and Environmental Humanities. Her academic journey includes an MA (2011) and BA (2009) from Trinity Western University.
Dr. Van Dyke's research focuses on British and Irish Modernism, Ecocriticism, Fantasy Literature, and the works of The Inklings. She explores intersections between literature and environmental ethics, hermetic spirituality, and Christian theology. Recent work includes analyzing C.S. Lewis’s Perelandra and Charles Williams’ poetic theology.
Her scholarly achievements include the SSHRCC Joseph-Armand Bombadier Canada Graduate Scholarship (2009) and the University of Ottawa Excellence Scholarship (2011-2013). She has published widely on topics ranging from fantasy literature to environmental narratives, contributing to edited volumes like The Inklings and Culture (2020).
Her teaching spans modern British literature, environmental studies in literature, and fantasy genres at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She actively engages in academic conferences, presenting on topics such as Owen Barfield’s ecological thought and fantasy literature’s liminal spaces.
