Laura Sturla is an Associate Professor at the Department of Experimental Medicine (DIMES), University of Genoa. She teaches multiple courses in biochemistry and related disciplines across degree programs including Motor Sciences, Nursing, Dietetics, Biotechnology, and Medicine and Surgery. Her research focuses on hormone-receptor systems, thermogenesis, energy metabolism regulation, and drug development for metabolic and genetic disorders.
Research Interests:
- Molecular mechanisms of ABA/LANCL receptor systems in thermogenesis
- Role of TRPM2 ion channels in adipose tissue biology
- Transcriptional regulation of energy metabolism by ERRα
- Multi-drug approaches for cystic fibrosis therapy
- Computational modeling of receptor-ligand interactions
- Translational biochemistry for health and disease
Publications (2024): Her recent work explores novel LANCL2 agonists via computational methods, thermogenic roles of ABA/LANCL systems, ERRα interactions with hormone receptors, TRPM2 channel regulation of adipose browning, and HSP70 allosteric inhibition combined with CFTR correctors for cystic fibrosis treatment. These articles highlight interdisciplinary approaches bridging biochemistry, molecular physiology, and pharmacology.
