Laura Saetveit Miles is Professor of British Literature at the University of Bergen's Department of Foreign Languages. A Yale PhD graduate, she specializes in medieval religious literature and culture, particularly women writers, visionary texts, and mystical traditions. She serves as Research Coordinator and Faculty Board member.
Her research explores devotional reading practices, gender in religious contexts, and textual transmission. Current projects focus on Birgittine literature's influence in medieval England and Marian devotion in Books of Hours.
Miles' publications concentrate on medieval women's literary production and reception, with recent work examining Syon Abbey's intellectual networks and vernacular devotional compilations. Her award-winning monograph The Virgin Mary's Book at the Annunciation received the SMFS Best First Book in Medieval Feminist Studies prize.
