Laura Portolés Falomir is an Assistant Professor at Jaume I University (Spain) and a member of the LAELA research group. She co-coordinates the English Language Teaching and Acquisition in Multilingual Contexts (MELACOM) MA program. She earned her PhD in Applied Linguistics in 2013. Her research examines multilingual education, third language acquisition, affective factors in learning, and early pragmatic development, with a focus on pedagogical translanguaging and CLIL methodologies.
Her publications consistently explore:
- Teacher beliefs about multilingual pedagogies
- Pragmatic development in young learners
- Translanguaging strategies in classrooms
- Impact of language policies on teacher training
- Cross-linguistic pragmatic awareness
She received the 2016 Outstanding Book Award (Junior Researcher category) from AESLA for her volume Multilingualism and Very Young Learners. She has co-edited special journal issues on multilingualism and CLIL education.
As co-coordinator of the MELACOM MA program and LAELA research group member, she contributes to advancing multilingual education research and training future language specialists.
