Laura Naegele

Laura Naegele is Assistant Professor of Employment and Education in Higher Age at TU Dortmund University's Department of Social Sciences since June 2024. She earned her PhD in Gerontology/Sociology from University of Vechta (2019), an MA in Sociology from Freie Universität Berlin (2012), and a BA in Sociology and Media Studies from Ruhr University Bochum (2009).

Her research examines ageism in labor markets, demographic impacts on workforces, lifelong competency development, and digital learning environments for older adults. These themes address social inclusion challenges in aging societies through qualitative and mixed-method approaches.

Prior to joining TU Dortmund, Dr. Naegele led a junior research group at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and held postdoctoral positions at University of Vechta, with additional experience at the Bertelsmann Foundation.
