Laura Moreno

Laura Moreno is an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida, specializing in genetic counseling. She works as a bilingual (English-Spanish) cancer genetic counselor at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and City of Hope, with a focus on health disparities and improving access to genetic services for minority populations.

• Education: Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Genetic Counseling (2020) from the University of South Florida.

Her research interests include cancer genetics, hereditary cancer risk communication, and community-based interventions for Latinx populations. She has contributed to publications in the Journal of Genetic Counseling addressing these themes.

Laura received recognition for her thesis work on educating Latino communities about hereditary cancer risks through a platform presentation at the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC). She also serves as an instructor in the R25 ARBOLES program, training community health workers on cancer genetics.

In her role as adjunct faculty, she emphasizes diversity in genetic counseling and reducing healthcare barriers for underserved groups.
