معرفی
Dr. Laura Meneghello is a researcher in the Department of History at the University of Siegen, Faculty I. Her academic work focuses on the history of knowledge and communication in modern times, with a strong emphasis on the cultural, technological, and sensory dimensions of infrastructure, particularly pneumatic tube systems. She is currently completing her habilitation project titled Pneumatic Tube Networks: A Layer in the (Media) Archaeology of Modernity, submitted in January 2025, which positions her at the forefront of media archaeological and STS-informed historical research.
Her research interests span the history of scientific materialism, especially the transnational career of Jacob Moleschott, the interplay between science and politics, sustainability visions, and the sensory and maintenance aspects of technological systems. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary dialogues through publications and conference presentations across Europe.
Dr. Meneghello's recent publications reveal a strong trend in examining long-term technological continuity, particularly how 19th-century pneumatic transport systems inform contemporary ideas about sustainability and infrastructure. Her work bridges environmental history, media archaeology, and urban studies, often analyzing how sensory perception, maintenance practices, and utopian visions shape technological development over time. She frequently publishes in interdisciplinary venues such as Global Environment and edited collections on communication and infrastructure.
