Laura McCann is a Senior Lecturer in the Business School at the University of Aberdeen, where she serves as Programme Director for Undergraduate Finance and Senior Business School Exams Officer. She is actively involved in university governance as a member of the University Senate and Quality Assurance Committee.

Laura's research lies in corporate finance, focusing on corporate debt sourcing, executive compensation, payout policy, and trade credit. She also investigates financial aspects of UK higher education, including university real estate, funding models, and green financing. Her work bridges finance theory with practical policy implications in education and sustainability.
Her recent publications highlight a strong trend in empirical corporate finance and higher education funding, with increasing attention to sustainability and climate finance. Articles span top journals in finance, accounting, property, and education policy, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement and methodological rigor.
