Laura Lively is a Lecturer at the UCI School of Law and an Associate at Morrison Foerster’s Litigation Department in Los Angeles. She specializes in high-stakes civil and criminal litigation, appellate advocacy, and conducting complex internal/governmental investigations. Her trial experience includes witness preparation, examination, and argumentation in federal/state courts, including the Ninth Circuit. Lively also manages investigations for entities and individuals, notably leading an all-women team investigating abuse in women’s professional soccer under former U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates.
Education: J.D. from UC Irvine School of Law, where she clerked for Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Sidney R. Thomas. She served as Research Assistant to Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, President of the Student Bar Association, and held roles in the UC Irvine Law Review and Women’s Law Society.
Research interests focus on litigation strategies, governmental investigations, and pro bono advocacy for veterans, domestic violence victims, and children with disabilities. She received Pro Bono Honors at graduation for this work and currently serves on the Board of the California Women’s Law Center.
Teaching includes courses on 'Complex Internal and Governmental Investigations' at UCI Law.
