Laura Lisnyczyj is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University. She specializes in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and teaches courses for both undergraduate and graduate students, including Advanced Academic Writing and Research for Non-native Speakers of English (ENL 213) and Communication for Information Professionals (IST 678). Her office is located in Tolley Humanities Building.
Education
- B.A. in Italian Language, Literature and Culture; Spanish Language, Literature and Culture (2002)
- M.A. in Linguistics (2004), both from Syracuse University
Research Interests
Her research focuses on multilingual classroom practices in English for Academic Purposes, student attitudes toward language instruction, and the educational implications of artificial intelligence in academic writing. She explores the comparative effectiveness of monolingual vs. multilingual teaching approaches and investigates boundary-setting strategies for AI integration in pedagogy.
Publications
Recent works include a 2022 book chapter analyzing multilingual EAP classroom outcomes and a 2024 presentation on AI use in education through the CTLE program.
