Laura Kelly-Corless is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), affiliated with the School of Law and Policing. Her work focuses on d/Deaf prisoners and broader criminal justice issues, with a PhD in Criminology awarded in 2017. She has been recognized for groundbreaking research, including the 2017 Prison Service Journal Outstanding Article Award (presented in 2018). Her research explores disability in carceral settings, communication barriers faced by deaf inmates, and the application of creative methods in rehabilitation. Laura has contributed to BBC See Hear as an expert and co-authored Deaf after prison, a practitioner guide addressing post-release challenges for deaf individuals.
