Laura Hyunjhee Kim is Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts in Global Performance Studies at UT Dallas, specializing in multimedia art that reimagines human/nonhuman interactions. Her practice-based research explores blobology, feelosophy and pigeonology through performances, digital installations, and collaborative projects shown internationally at venues including Venice Biennale and Pioneer Works.
Her scholarly work examines digital identity construction and material theory, with publications exploring blob aesthetics and digital afterlife concepts. She received significant recognition including the 2020 Judson-Morrissey Excellence in New Media Award and Black Cube Video Art Award.
Educational background includes PhD in Intermedia Art from University of Colorado Boulder, MFA from San Francisco Art Institute, and BS from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She maintains active collaborations with artists and researchers through initiatives like Centre for Emotional Materiality.
