Laura Hughes-Gerber

Dr Laura Hughes-Gerber is a **Lecturer in Law (Human Rights)** at the **Law School**, part of the **Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)** at Lancaster University. She is a member of **Lonsdale College** and holds the **Advance HE Fellowship**. Her research focuses on two main areas: **Public International Law** (specializing in International Diplomatic Law and Human Rights Law) and **Legal Education**, particularly student support systems.

Her notable work includes a monograph on diplomatic asylum under international law (2021) and collaborative studies advancing student wellbeing in legal education. She actively participates in moot court competitions, including as Co-Administrator of the UK National Round of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (2022).

Laura supervises PhD students in International Diplomatic Law, Human Rights Law, and Public International Law. She has advised **Ahmed Fahmy** and **Monica Gyimah**. Her recent publications address topics like ICJ diplomatic asylum cases and inclusive law student support frameworks.

She regularly engages in academic activities, including conferences on legal education and human rights, and has delivered invited talks on diplomatic asylum and student wellbeing initiatives.
