Laura Hindelang is a Researcher at the Institute of Art History, University of Bern since 2019. Her work focuses on visual cultures of modern architecture, petro-modernity, and contemporary art from the Persian Gulf region. She is also involved in editorial roles for academic journals.
Her research interests include the history of art and architecture with a focus on Europe, North America, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. She has taught courses on religious spaces, fossil energy in material history, and women and architecture. Recent seminars explored Kuwait's urban transformation and the visibility of petroleum in cultural contexts.
Dr. Hindelang is a member of the editorial board of the Open Access journal bfo-journal, focusing on architectural history and urban planning, and the advisory board of Manazir Journal, dedicated to MENA's visual arts and cultural heritage. She contributes to transdisciplinary approaches in art history, particularly through her work on 'iridescence' as a concept in petro-modernity studies.
