Laura Gulledge

Dr. Laura Gulledge is an Associate Professor and Associate Director at the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science & Security, within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on juvenile justice interventions, co-occurring disorders in youth, psychosocial factors in delinquency, and sports safety. She teaches courses like Juvenile Law, Corrections, and Family Violence. Notably, she received the Tenure-Track Teacher of the Year award (2018/2019).

Dr. Gulledge holds a PhD from the University of South Florida (2016), an MA (2006), and a BA from the University of Florida (2003). Her work spans criminological theory, gender dynamics in violence, and policy responses to public health crises like the pandemic’s impact on burglary rates. She explores innovative correctional strategies and juvenile detention modernization, particularly in Mississippi.

Her publications address topics such as microbiome influences on aggression, Title IX compliance, and the role of self-control in intimate partner violence. She advocates for evidence-based practices in criminal justice and community responses to domestic violence. Professional affiliations include the American Society of Criminology and the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology.
