Dr. Laura Gabriel is Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Health. With 25+ years of clinical experience, her research focuses on intrapartum risk perception, mentorship models, and respectful maternity care.
PhD research developed a phenomenographic framework for conceptualizing labor risk. Current projects investigate strategies for improving care in low-resource settings and implementing AI in midwifery curricula.
Awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2023). Professional membership: Australian College of Midwives.
