Laura Davies

Laura Davies is a Lecturer in Physical Education, Sport, and Youth Development at St Mary’s University, where she also serves as Course Lead for the Physical Education, Sports, and Youth Development (PESYD) programme. She holds a BSc in Sports Science, PGCE in Physical Education from Brunel University, and a Master’s in Education with a focus on primary-secondary transition in PE. Currently pursuing a PhD at Loughborough University, her research explores support for students with SEND in international education, particularly in Thailand.

Her professional experience spans 13 years of teaching PE in diverse settings, including a UK-based British International School in Thailand. She is a member of the PhysEquity collective, advocating for equitable physical education. Key research interests include inclusion, LGBTQIA+ experiences in PE, and curriculum innovation. Laura teaches modules on adapted PE and equality/diversity, emphasizing practical and theoretical approaches to inclusive education.

Her recent publications address LGBTQIA+ marginalization in PE and methodological innovation through poetic data representation. Conference presentations include examinations of teacher experiences supporting SEND students in Thailand. No specific grants are highlighted, but her work aligns with broader educational equity initiatives.
