Laura Charleton

Laura Charleton is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Kent Law School, serving dual administrative roles as Director of Recruitment & Admissions and Director of International Legal Studies. With over ten years of higher education experience, she specializes in designing law modules for non-law students, introducing foundational legal concepts including the English legal system, sources of law, and evidence law.

Her research examines the criminal trial process, evidence law, and the role of victims within criminal justice systems, with particular attention to trial legitimacy questions. Charleton draws on her prior career as a practicing barrister specializing in criminal trial advocacy (Crown and Magistrates' Courts), civil litigation, and family disputes.
