Laura Castillo Martinez is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. from the London School of Economics in 2019.
Her research focuses on international macroeconomics, firm dynamics, and monetary economics. She currently leads an NSF-funded collaborative research project titled "The Anatomy of Firm Exit: Theory and Facts" (2021–2025) and maintains affiliations with the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
She has taught courses including:
- ECON 455: International Finance (Spring 2024, Spring 2023)
- ECON 799: Internship (Summer 2024)
- ECON 855: International Finance and Macroeconomics (Spring 2025, Spring 2024, Spring 2023)
- FECON 355: International Finance (Spring 2025)
She was recognized in 2021 as part of Duke's five new faculty additions in the Department of Economics.
