Dr. Laura Carrea is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. Her research focuses on lake surface water temperature retrieval, satellite remote sensing applications, and climate data record generation. She contributes to major initiatives like the European Space Agency's CCI Lakes project, Copernicus Climate Change Service, and the EUSTACE project. Her work analyzes global lake responses to environmental change using satellite-derived data, with a particular emphasis on hydrometeor scattering and polarization algebra techniques.
Research projects include the GloboLakes initiative and global lake surface water temperature monitoring for the European State of the Climate reports (2018–2024). Her studies address lake-ice interactions in West Greenland, water quality trends, and climate change impacts on hydrological systems. She collaborates internationally with organizations like the Met Office Hadley Centre and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
Publications highlight advancements in remote sensing methodologies, climate data integration, and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental monitoring. Dr. Carrea’s work bridges satellite technology with limnological science, providing critical datasets for understanding global climate dynamics.
