Professor Laura Bowater MBE is Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Innovation at the University of East Anglia, with previous roles including Associate Dean for Enterprise and Engagement in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Her research spans antibiotic resistance, science communication, and microbiology education. She developed citizen science projects with the Society for General Microbiology to engage the public with antimicrobial resistance.
Honors include an MBE for microbiology education, the Peter Wildy Prize, and the Sir Geoffrey and Lady Allen Teaching Prize. She leads the Medicine with a Foundation Year program, promoting access to medical education for non-traditional students.
