Dr. Laura Bevis is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Queen Mary University of London's School of Engineering and Materials Science, based at the Digital Environment Research Institute under Dr. Caroline Roney's supervision. Her work focuses on mathematical modeling of biological fluid dynamics with applications in cardiovascular and ocular systems.
Her research interests span Mathematical biology, Fluid dynamics, Cardiovascular flow, Vitreous humour dynamics, Microswimmers, and Surface tension. She investigates complex fluid-structure interactions in biological contexts through advanced computational modeling, particularly examining blood flow mechanics in cardiac structures and fluid dynamics within the vitreous chamber of the eye.
Recent publications (2022-2025) reveal a concentrated research trajectory in cardiac digital twins and ocular fluid modeling. Her work demonstrates strong interdisciplinary collaboration between applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, and clinical cardiology, with increasing emphasis on scalable computational pipelines for clinical translation of atrial models and detailed investigations of vitreous humour heterogeneity.
Dr. Bevis maintains professional engagement as an Associate Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (AMIMA) and collaborates within the Digital Environment Research Institute on cardiovascular digital twin initiatives.
