معرفی
Laura Baumgartner is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), affiliated with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies and the Biomechanics & Mechanobiology (BMMB) research group. Her work focuses on computational and experimental approaches to study microtrauma processes in intervertebral discs, particularly through her developed PNt-Methodology for simulating cellular environments. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Human Movement Sciences and Biomechanics from ETH Zurich, followed by a PhD at UPF under Dr. Jérôme Noailly. Her research bridges biomechanics and mechanobiology, emphasizing multiscale modeling and regenerative strategies.
Education:
- Bachelor in Human Movement Sciences, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich)
- Master in Biomechanics, ETH Zurich
- PhD in Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Research Interests: Laura’s work spans Trauma Biomechanics, Mechanobiology, and Computational Modeling. She investigates microtrauma mechanisms in intervertebral discs, integrating experimental and computational methods to understand cellular responses to mechanical and biochemical stimuli. Her PNt-Methodology enables high-level network modeling of cell behavior in complex environments, with applications to disc degeneration and regenerative medicine.
Awards: Her PhD research earned seven awards from international research societies, recognizing contributions to biomechanics and mechanobiology. These honors highlight her innovative approaches to studying tissue-level trauma processes.
Professional Experience:
- Postdoctoral Researcher, BMMB Group, UPF (2021–present)
- PhD Candidate, BMMB Group, UPF (2016–2021)
- Researcher, AGU (Accident Mechanics Group), Zurich (pre-PhD)
- Temporary Researcher, AXA Winterthur Accident Research Team (pre-PhD)
Labs/Teams: Active member of the BMMB Group led by Dr. Jérôme Noailly, collaborating internationally on projects related to disc biology and trauma mechanics. Previously contributed to automotive crash test analysis and road safety research through industry and academic partnerships.
