Laura Balbuena

Laura Balbuena is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), where she has taught courses on political philosophy and gender since 2007. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from the New School for Social Research, New York, and a B.A. in Philosophy from PUCP. Her academic work intersects gender, politics, and violence, with international experience as a visiting scholar at the University of Winnipeg and Illinois State University. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission in Peru.

In peace studies, she has held leadership roles as Secretary General of the Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP) and board member of the Latin American Studies Association Peru Section. She is also a board member of the Gender Institute of Peru and the International Peace Research Association Foundation (IPRAF), where she was previously a fellow.
