Latoya Haynes-Thoby is Assistant Professor of Counseling at UConn's Neag School of Education. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education from Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on trauma-responsive counseling through Black feminist and intersectional frameworks.
Key interests include intimate partner violence resilience, trauma-informed supervision, culturally responsive interventions, and community healing strategies. Work centers marginalized communities with emphasis on culturally specific protective factors and access to care.
Publications examine trauma resilience mechanisms across educational, clinical, and community contexts. Recent works address Black maternal experiences, racial grief, and equity-focused counseling frameworks. Methodological approaches prioritize mixed-methods designs.
