Lasse Berntzen

Lasse Berntzen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, History and Social Sciences within the USN Business School, University of South-Eastern Norway. His research focuses on blockchain technology applications in the energy sector, digital society transformation, and themes like e-government, e-democracy, and smart cities. Berntzen also teaches programming (.NET), mobile applications, e-commerce, open source, social media, and Internet-of-Things, with specialized lectures on cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin), blockchain fundamentals, and their societal implications.

Research interests include:

• Blockchain technology for energy sector transparency
• E-democracy and digital participation in aging populations
• Smart city development
• Public sector innovation through technology

Berntzen's work examines both opportunities and barriers in technology-driven societal change, particularly how digital systems affect democratic participation and inclusivity for older adults. He has been involved in various unspecified projects analyzing successful implementation of digital solutions in governance.
