LaShonda L. Eaddy is an Assistant Professor at the Bellisario College of Communications, Pennsylvania State University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and is an Accredited in Public Relations (APR). Her research focuses on crisis history’s impact on crisis communication strategies, trust erosion, and health communication. She is a PRO PR GLOBE Awards Laureate and was honored as Dallas PRSA’s 40 Under 40 in 2021. Dr. Eaddy bridges academia and industry through her work as an editorial board member for the Journal of Public Relations Research, associate editor of Journal of Public Relations Education, and leadership roles in PRSA and AEJMC. She founded initiatives like Black PR Profs Unite and Color My Prof to support underrepresented scholars and diversify the communications field.
Her education includes a Bachelor’s from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Master’s from the University of Central Florida, and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. She emphasizes experiential learning, integrating industry insights into her teaching and fostering connections between students and professionals through guest lectures and industry partnerships.
Dr. Eaddy’s research explores how organizations’ historical crises influence current perceptions and strategies. Her Crisis History Framework examines factors affecting stakeholder reliance on past crises, aiding professionals in reputation management and communication strategy. She co-edits an upcoming Routledge volume, History’s Impact on Crisis Preparing and Preventing, and contributes to industry publications like PRNEWS and The Washington Post. She advocates for ethical leadership, community-building among Black PR educators, and diversity in academia through conferences and networks.
