Lars Vilhuber is a Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at Cornell University, with affiliations to the ILR School’s Labor Dynamics Institute (LDI) as Executive Director. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Université de Montréal (1999) and an undergraduate degree from Universität Bonn (Germany). His roles include serving as the American Economic Association’s (AEA) Data Editor and affiliation with the U.S. Census Bureau’s Center for Economic Studies (CES). He advises French and Canadian restricted-access data centers and focuses on improving data access and reproducibility standards for social scientists.

He is also an expert in data dissemination, synthetic data products, and confidentiality protection. Over the years, he has contributed to systems like the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Infrastructure Files and the Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI), which provide foundational tools for analyzing workforce trends.
Recent professional activities include presentations on reproducibility standards at conferences like the American Economic Association meetings in 2025. He has received notable awards, including the U.S. Census Bureau Bronze Medal and recognition from the American Statistical Association’s SPAIG Committee in 2025.
