Lars Maskow

Lars Maskow is a Research Fellow at the University of Münster's Faculty of Protestant Theology, working in the Old Testament Seminar. He serves as a Research Associate focusing on text linguistics, text pragmatics, and literary history of the Old Testament, particularly during the Persian period. His work is closely connected with the Center for History and Culture of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Dr. Maskow's academic interests center on Pentateuchal research, Chronicles-Ezra-Nehemiah, the Book of Ezekiel, and biblical intertextuality. His research demonstrates a particular focus on the compositional history of biblical texts, reception history, and the relationship between priestly and prophetic literature in the Hebrew Bible. He has developed expertise in analyzing textual criticism, redactional processes, and linguistic features of biblical narratives.

His recent publications show a consistent focus on intertextual relationships between different biblical books, particularly examining how Chronicles receives and transforms Pentateuchal material. His 2025 publications continue this trajectory with studies on Genesis 22, Solomon in Chronicles, and the concept of כבוד (glory) across priestly texts and Ezekiel. His scholarly output demonstrates methodological sophistication in textual criticism and redaction history.

Dr. Maskow has received recognition through memberships in prestigious academic societies including the Society of Biblical Literature (since 2015), European Association of Biblical Studies (since 2014), and the Deutscher Verein zur Erforschung Palästinas (since 2021).

As an educator, he teaches various courses in Old Testament studies, including biblical exegesis (with and without Hebrew), biblical overview, and specialized seminars on Chronicles, Ezekiel, and biblical intertextuality. His current habilitation project focuses on literary reciprocity and redaction in the Book of Ezekiel.
