Lars Kaleschke

Lars Kaleschke is a sea-ice physicist at the Alfred Wegener Institute, focusing on remote sensing and observation systems for polar regions. His work examines sea ice dynamics, climate interactions, and the role of sea ice in Earth’s energy balance.

Research Interests: Dr. Kaleschke studies Arctic and Antarctic sea ice using satellite data, microwave radiometry, and field observations. He investigates processes like melt pond formation, snow-ice interactions, and the impact of sea ice on global climate systems. His research also addresses technological advancements in remote sensing to improve monitoring of cryosphere changes.

Key Projects: He contributed to the MOSAiC expedition, analyzing sea ice conditions and remote sensing data. His work includes developing the CryoRad mission concept for ultra-wideband microwave radiometry to monitor the cryosphere.
