Lars Eivind Augland is an Associate Professor at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, specializing in U-Pb geochronology, isotope geology, and the tectonic evolution of orogens. His research spans volcanic activity, mass extinctions, and crustal exchange during the Caledonian and Grenvillian orogenies.
- PhD in Geosciences from the University of Oslo
- Postdoctoral Fellow at CEED, University of Oslo (2015–2021)
- Postdoctoral Fellow at GEOTOP, Université du Québec à Montréal
His work focuses on chronostratigraphy, volcanism, and continental collision dynamics, with fieldwork in Svalbard, Scandinavia, and East Antarctica. Key projects include NOR-R-AM2 (North Atlantic volcanism) and VICCO (CO2 storage).
Recent publications analyze U-Pb geochronology trends in the North Atlantic Igneous Province, Mesozoic volcanism in Tunisia, and Permian-Triassic boundary dynamics in Svalbard. His teaching includes advanced structural geology and field methodologies.
