Juan Camilo Meza Cala is a PhD Research Fellow at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Planetary Habitability. Based in Room 3.423 at the ZEB building (Sem Sælands vei 2a), he conducts research on Arctic geodynamics through the DYPOLE project, focusing on tectonic-magmatic-sedimentary interactions in the Eurasia Basin and Barents Sea/Svalbard margin.

Recent publications (2021–2024) reveal consistent focus on NE Atlantic-Arctic margin evolution, particularly the Lofoten-Vesterålen region and Eurasia Basin. Key themes include fault complex kinematics, hydrothermal vent triggers from intraplate volcanism, and accretionary complex structures in Panama. His collaborative studies in Geological Society of London Memoirs and Communications Earth & Environment establish critical links between tectonic events and paleoceanographic changes.
Funded through the DYPOLE project (Dynamics of polar confined basins), Meza Cala collaborates with international researchers including Jan Inge Faleide, Alexander Minakov, and Mohamed Mansour Abdelmalak.
