Lars Boerner

Lars Boerner is Professor of Economics at Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg, Senior Research Fellow at DAFM, King’s Business School, King’s College London, and Research Professor at the IWH – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research. He is an economist and economic historian whose work focuses on the long-run evolution of economies, market structures, and the impact of general-purpose technologies on growth.

His research interests include:

• The historical evolution of markets and other allocation/clearing mechanisms.
• The role of general-purpose technologies in shaping long-term economic growth.
• Developing alternative measures of social and economic interactions, such as comparing historical trade patterns with the spread of diseases.
