Lars August Fodstad

Lars August Fodstad is a Professor of Nordic Literature and Head of Department at NTNU’s Department of Language and Literature (Faculty of Humanities). His research focuses on Scandinavian literature with emphases on Modern Breakthrough literature, Norwegian drama, and literature pedagogy. He has authored academic monographs such as Moderne gjennombrudd og sammenbrudd (2014) and co-authored textbooks like Moment. Norsk for studieforberedende (VG1–3). His work bridges literary analysis with pedagogy, examining how economic, media, and cultural frameworks shape literary interpretation and education.

Research highlights include media-archaeological analyses of Finn Iunker’s plays and financial narratives in Ibsen’s dramas. He explores intersections between literature and economics, such as Economic Extensions in Space and Time (2020), while advancing pedagogical approaches to literary competence in secondary education.

Publications span academic articles in Ibsen Studies, Nordic Journal of Literacy Research, and Acta Didactica Norden, alongside feature articles in Khrono.no.
