Larry Smith is a Professor in the Physics Department at Snow College. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Brigham Young University, an M.A. in Physics from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on addressing deficiencies in the method of significant figures in scientific education. Beyond teaching, he has served in diverse administrative roles including Department Chair, Dean, Director of Faculty Development, Faculty Senate President, and Co-Director of the Honors Program.
Smith teaches a wide range of courses spanning physics, astronomy, mathematics, and philosophy. He emphasizes inspiring students to embrace lifelong learning and contribute positively to society. His career at Snow College since 1991 reflects a commitment to both academia and institutional leadership.
Personal interests include reading, travel, gardening, and continuous learning. He and his wife Holly are parents to five children, all of whom attended Snow College.
