Queens College, City University of New Yorkمعرفی
Larry S. Liebovitch serves as Professor of Physics and Psychology at Queens College, City University of New York, where he previously held the position of Dean of the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He also maintains an affiliation as Adjunct Senior Research Scientist for the Advanced Consortium on Conflict, Cooperation and Complexity (AC4) at Columbia University's Earth Institute.
Dr. Liebovitch specializes in applying nonlinear mathematical methods to analyze complex systems across multiple domains. His research focuses on modeling human behavior through mathematical frameworks, examining interactions between individuals (including patterns where people exhibit opposite or similar behaviors) and extending these models to small network structures. His work demonstrates how mathematical approaches can reveal fundamental patterns in social dynamics that might otherwise remain hidden.
Liebovitch's interdisciplinary research bridges physics, psychology, and complexity science, with particular relevance to understanding conflict resolution and sustainable peace. His presentation at the 2015 Sustaining Peace conference highlighted how mathematical modeling provides valuable tools for addressing intractable conflicts through the lens of complexity theory.
