Larry Fauver is the James F. Smith Jr. Professor in Financial Institutions and Litfin Family Finance Faculty Fellow at the University of Tennessee’s Department of Finance. He joined the faculty in 2007 and holds a Ph.D. in Finance (2000) and M.A. in Economics (1997) from the University of Florida, along with an M.B.A. (1994) and B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (1992) from Youngstown State University. His research focuses on corporate governance, firm performance, corruption, and international finance. He teaches international finance courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. levels.
His research has been published in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and presented at institutions such as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Notable awards include the 2018 Paul Van Arsdell Best Paper Award and the 2013 Best Paper Award from the Academy of Behavioral Finance and Economics. He has also received grants from the SEC Faculty Travel Program and the Haslam Summer Scholars Program.
Dr. Fauver’s work emphasizes the interplay between governance structures and firm value, with a focus on global markets. His articles often explore how regulatory frameworks, cultural factors, and institutional policies shape financial outcomes. Recent studies address boardroom diversity reforms, workforce policies, and systemic risk in banking.
