Larissa Jäger

Larissa Jäger is a Scientific Associate at the University of Paderborn's Department of English and American Studies, Faculty of Cultural Studies, working within Linguistics - Prof. Mindt's Department since 2021.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts (2016-2019) and Master of Arts (2019-2021) in English Linguistics and English Language Literature and Culture from the University of Paderborn, with an Erasmus exchange semester at Birmingham City University in the UK (2018-2019).

Dr. Jäger's research focuses on Language and Gender, Language of Advertising, Corpus Linguistics, and Pragmatics. Her PhD dissertation examines gender representation in blurbs of children's books. Her work analyzes linguistic patterns, gender biases, and discourse strategies in marketing texts for young readers, with particular attention to forms of address and audience targeting.

Her recent publications demonstrate a growing research profile in linguistic analysis of gender representation across different contexts, from children's literature to political debates. Her work bridges corpus linguistics methodologies with pragmatic and discourse analysis approaches.

As an educator, Dr. Jäger teaches courses on Syntax, Project and Exploration Linguistics, Methodical Foundations of Linguistics, and Language and Social Media. She has previously taught courses on Language and Gender, Computer-Mediated Communication, (Im)Politeness, Language and Politics, Semantics, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, and Morphology and Word Formation. She is actively involved in graduate student support through the Graduate Forum of the Faculty of Cultural Studies and has co-organized the Graduate Week 2024.

Her office is located at Warburger Str. 100, Room J4.141 in Paderborn, with office hours on Tuesdays 9:30-10:30 during the Winter semester 2025/26.
