Lanlan (Lacey) Chu is an Assistant Professor at St. Catherine University, where she has been since Fall 2020. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Buena Vista University in Iowa. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas Tech University (2017). Her research focuses on health economics, aging, caregiving, and gender disparities, with a particular emphasis on cross-national comparisons of healthy aging, caregiver impacts, and gender inequities in health outcomes. Her work has appeared in journals such as Social Science and Medicine, Journal of Aging and Health, and Journal of Women and Aging.
Her research projects include studies on informal care's effects on caregivers and recipients, cross-national healthy aging trends, and the mental health implications of long-term care. She has explored topics such as financial knowledge's role in spending behavior during the pandemic, intergenerational support in aging populations, and the Red Herring Hypothesis in China's long-term care expenditures.
