Dr. Lance G. Hampton serves as a Visiting Professor and has held adjunct professor roles at the University of Pittsburgh (teaching Constitutional Law, Civil Rights, and International Law) and Iowa Wesleyan College (teaching World Religions and Ethics). He previously served in the U.S. Department of Defense, including as Senior Advisor for Risk Management, Executive Secretary for the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and Director for Strategy. His research focuses on domestic politics of national security and the intersection of political economy with national security.
Education: B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College, M.A. in Classical Hebrew and Jewish Studies from the University of Oxford, J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, and Ph.D. in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Awards include the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal and Joint Civilian Service Achievement Medal. He has participated in biblical archaeological excavations in Israel and specialized in Persian Period Judean history.
