Lana Mičko is a doctoral student and acting researcher at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine, Rīga Stradiņš University. Her work focuses on platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) applications in maxillofacial surgery, including antimicrobial properties, anti-inflammatory effects, and bone regeneration techniques.
Research Themes:
- Development of antibacterial autologous fibrin matrices
- Evaluation of PRF effectiveness in orthognathic surgery
- Immunological testing of PRF using ELISA assays
- Antibacterial activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae
Collaborations: Active in international research networks, including the 27th European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery Congress. Collaborates with supervisors Dr. Ilze Šalma and Dr. Ivars Skadiņš.
