Lamiek Abraham is a doctoral researcher at Brunel University, affiliated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. His work focuses on the development of a smart catheter device for endovascular applications, integrating tactile sensing and advanced visualization techniques to address the challenges of minimally invasive treatments for cardiovascular, neurovascular, and peripheral vascular diseases.
Abraham's research is supported by an EPSRC DTP and industry-funded PhD studentship. His expertise spans electronic hardware, data analysis, and telecommunications, which he applies to enhance endovascular procedures through innovative catheter design. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a BEng in Electronic and Communications Engineering from Brunel University, laying the foundation for his current interdisciplinary work.
His projects aim to bridge gaps in endovascular surgery by improving tactile feedback and navigation capabilities using pre-operative scan data and robotics. This aligns with broader interests in biomedical engineering, medical device innovation, and vascular disease treatment. Abraham's contributions emphasize the integration of engineering principles with clinical needs, targeting advancements in minimally invasive surgical tools.
