Dr. Laliotis Georgios is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Animal Production, Agricultural University of Athens. His academic roles include teaching and research in farm animal husbandry, focusing on genetics, lipid metabolism, and reproductive mechanisms. He holds a B.Sc. (2002), M.Sc. (2004), and Ph.D. (2007) from the Agricultural University of Athens, with postdoctoral research (2009-2010) funded by the Greek Agricultural Institute. Prior roles include Special Lecturer in Geotechnical Sciences (2009-2017), Ministry of Rural Development advisor (2016-2018), and Researcher at the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (2017-2019).
Research interests emphasize genomic diversity of livestock, molecular genetics, and animal welfare. His work spans ovine G6PD gene analysis, mastitis biomarkers, and climate change impacts on Mediterranean agriculture. Over 40 peer-reviewed publications and conference papers highlight contributions to livestock science and genetics.
His current position at the Laboratory of General and Special Animal Husbandry focuses on breeding strategies and physiological studies. Collaborations include genomic diversity projects on Greek and Cypriot cattle, and behavioral studies in sheep under intensive systems.
