Dr. Lakshman Wimalasena is an Assistant Professor specializing in Human Resource & Diversity Management at the Department of Management, Edinburgh Business School, within the School of Social Sciences at Heriot Watt University. He chairs the Ethics Committee and serves on the School Disciplinary Board. His research focuses on Fair Work, digitalisation, gender, reflexivity, and Sri Lanka's apparel industry. He supervises doctoral students and contributes to the Centre for the Transformation of Work. He holds editorial roles and reviews for top journals. His key projects include Fair Work frameworks in public sectors and reflexivity training. He actively engages with Scottish public institutions and international collaborations.
Education: Completed a doctoral project titled Presence of the departed? Meaning of work and the reflexive life journey of postcolonial Sri Lankan agents through the world (Heriot Watt University). Active in external roles such as External Examiner, Respect Ambassador, and Anti-Racism Reference Group member.
Research interests span reflexive methodologies, postcolonial contexts, and global labor issues. Recent articles explore digitalisation, gendered work experiences, and critical realism applications. Engaged in over £200,000+ funded projects addressing casual labor in Sri Lanka and healthcare education reflexivity.
