Lakmini Weerakoon is a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology at Charles Sturt University (CSU), located in Wagga Wagga. She holds a B. Vet Sci/B. Vet Bio (Hons) from CSU (2013), an M.Chem in Boron organometalic chemistry from Yale University (2000), and a B.Sci Chem (Hons) from Beloit College (1998). Her academic progression includes a veterinary pathology residency at the University of Sydney (2018–2021).
Her research focuses on brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, koala health, and feline medicine, alongside descriptive anatomic pathology. Teaching responsibilities include veterinary pathology, histology, and introductory veterinary topics at CSU and previously at the University of Sydney and Yale University.
Her publications span virology (Torque Teno Virus in pigeons), zoonotic diseases (leptospirosis in urban dogs), developmental abnormalities in canines, and medicinal chemistry. She engages in diagnostic pathology work within CSU’s veterinary school.
