Laila L. Hlass serves as Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Immigrant Rights Clinic at Tulane University Law School, concurrently holding the position of Associate Provost for International Affairs. Her academic leadership spans both legal scholarship and administrative responsibilities within the university.
Her research critically examines intersections between immigration enforcement and criminal legal systems, with particular focus on racial subordination in immigration policies and immigrant children's rights. Key areas include deportation abolition frameworks, habeas litigation for detained immigrants, and trauma-informed clinical pedagogy.
