Lacy Feigh is a Lecturer in the Council of the Humanities and History Department at Princeton University. She holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and has held fellowships at Penn’s Middle East Studies Center. Her research focuses on modern Ethiopian and Nile Valley histories, particularly slavery, empire, and race. She teaches courses like ‘A Global History of Ethiopia: Ras Tefari to Haile Selassie’ (Fall 2023).
Education: Ph.D. in History from the University of Pennsylvania; prior work includes Peace Corps service in Ethiopia and a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Jordan.
Research interests bridge African and Middle Eastern histories, examining migration, labor, and transnational movements. Her book project, ‘Abyssinia to Ethiopia: Slavery, Race and the Transition from Empire to Nation, 1855-1957,’ explores the role of slavery and freed individuals in shaping Ethiopia’s modern state.
Awards include Fulbright and SSRC fellowships. Publications include a piece on the Peace Corps in The Washington Post.
